Hey everyone,

Today I want to share with you some tips about difficult parenting moments and how to deal with them. Enjoy!

_________

If there was a collection of parenting studies required, then all of us would have at least one four year college degree. It would be easy to get buried in the amount of material there is on this subject. Your experience as a parent needs to start somewhere, so start taking an interest now in learning more about it.

It isn’t always a priority to read about parenting until after you’ve had kids and need some advice. People will decide to learn about parenting in different ways by either reading about it before they have children or after they’ve already had them. Taking an interest early is showing that you want to invest in your children.

Kids can be like lovable weasels. I’m making this comparison because once you’ve asked them or told them to do something, they will wiggle and struggle and basically do anything just to avoid doing what you want. But those are the precise times when you need to stand your ground, firmly.

Your child is only looking at how it pains them, even though you are the only one who knows why you had to make the decision you did. As you know very well, once you give in – just one time, then it may be all over for future decisions. So you simply cannot afford to give in and reverse or modify your decision. No matter how desperate they are, your child needs to know that they will not succeed.

Quite frankly, I have always thought that it was too overwhelming for a seventeen or eighteen year old to be make these type of lifelong decisions considering the fact that they are still green under the thumb. Yes, these are great times in which they think they know what they want as a profession. Of course, there are plenty of options in this day and time.

But as parents, it is our responsibility to be certain that they are being exposed to the right kind of information. It is within their reach. Then see to it that you always stay in communication with and work with your child. Do not stop communicating with them and being supportive and most importantly, let them know that they are living their own life and not yours.

Learning some important lessons as well as gaining positive experience are just two of the reasons we feel it is important teenagers get a summer job, as has been mentioned in other articles. The lesson that needs emphasis here is the concept of money management and responsibility.

You have to sit your child down and make sure they are prepared to have the conversation about the topic. Ask how they feel about saving money and make sure you really listen to them. This is an ideal situation that puts them in the situation where they have to deal with the consequences of their decisions. They need to learn the consequences of their decisions so don’t give them any money if they spend it all in one day.

Being a successful parent consists of teaching your child the things that they will need to know to be successful in the outside world. We don’t have the ability to and should not fight their battles for them. This is why any child that has a healthy mindset will figure out how to handle the things that are presented to them.

I hope that these post on difficult parenting moments and how to deal with them will be helpful for you as a parent. For more parenting tips and a complete parenting program check out this review on The Happy Child Guide Book.
